Wycliffe Bible Translators
In January 2000, Cathy left her position with a steel company in Canton, Ohio to become a faith missionary at the headquarters of Wycliffe Bible Translators USA in Orlando, Florida, where she is part of a team that designs, codes, and maintains computer software. Her work primarily helps the Personnel Dept. keep track of and administer the nearly 4,000 people that Wycliffe USA has serving around the world, as well as others from about 70 Wycliffe organizations in other countries.
These personnel systems automate many of the clerical aspects of the work, so staff can focus more on the personal member care aspects, thus better helping people to function in their roles which is to see a Bible translation project begun in every language that needs it by the year 2025. This information technology work has been given a high priority, with enhanced computer systems seen as essential to Wycliffe's ability to functions at this level.
Although most of her time has been spent in Orlando, Cathy live in Chennai, India on a six month assignment leading a team of Indian programmers as they learned Wycliffe's systems and standards.
